Making your own face cream?

1. Can you use cocoa butter or coconut butter, or will it clog your pores?

2. Is it okay to use beeswax, and how can you soften it?

3. What essential oils can be used on the face?Making your own face cream?
Hi Keat B, coconut oil one of the best things you can apply directly on your skin and hair. It not only gives temporary relief to skin problems like rashes, but it aids in healing and restoring skin to a younger appearance. It has also been known to help with people who suffer from yeast infections in the skin, and there is solid research that shows the MCTs in coconut oil do overcome yeast infections. Coconut oil also makes an excellent massage oil.

2. It's okay, you need melt 15 g of pure beeswax together with 130 ml sweet almond oil, in a bain-marie. Do not melt the beeswax in a pot on direct heat from a plate on the stove (electric or gas) since it can burn easily and cause a fire hazard.

Some people are hesitant to use beeswax in skin products, since they think that it will ';block the pores'; but when used in a mixture like this, not only does it do wonders for softening the skin, but will not cause any problems.

3. It may be a Jasmine Oil, Rose Oil, Rose Geranium Oil, Neroli Oil, Rosewood Oil, Palmarosa Oil, Myrrh Oil, ...their very much.

1. Cocoa butter is too heavy for most people's facial skin. Those who need that much moisture would typically use that cream right out of the container and not mess with adding beeswax and oil. Most recipes for face cream use Jojoba oil, Olive oil or Avocado oil. Those are pretty easy to obtain and to work with.

2. Beeswax is used to stiffen an oil for use in a cream. You melt it by warming it over very low heat. A double boiler works nicely.

3. Some essential oils you can put on your face, in diluted form, are: Rose, Rose geranium, Chamomile, Lavender, Sandalwood, Jasmine and Palmarosa. For very oily skin, you might use Grapefruit, Cypress, Lemon, Rosemary or Lemongrass.

HERE'S A RECIPE FOR DRY SKIN:

3/4 ounce beeswax, shaved

1 cup vegetable oil (your choice)

1 cup water (or rose water)

24 drops (1/4 teaspoon) rose geranium essential oil or 6 drops rose essential oil

Heat beeswax and oil in a pot until wax melts. In a separate pot, heat water until it is warm to the touch. Remove the center ring on the lid of your blender or food processor and pour the warm water in. With the blender on high speed, very slowly add the oil-beeswax mixture. The whole conconction should begin to solidify when about three-quarters of the oil has been added. As this happens, add the essential oils and carefully stir in top edges as they turn solid. Keeping adding oil until mixture is too stiff to take any more, or when all the water is blended in. Turn off blender and remove the thick, smooth cream. Pour while it is still warm.
