I suppose it depends on the consistency. Lotions tend to be runny and have a greater water content, where as creams are thicker with more oil ingredients and a lot greasier; not nice on the face. The skin is the biggest organ we have but has different needs and treatments. I feel we overdo it at times and don鈥檛 let nature do its stuff and allow our skin to breath and repair itself. I use anything of substance on my hands and body but stick to facial creams/lotions for my face.

I've read it's always best to use an eye cream because the skin around your eye is different from the rest of your skin, but do you use the eye cream over the regular cream or under? No you shouldn't put normal face cream under your eye .... What I usually do is to spread the face cream all over the face ... without touching them around my eye ... then I put my eye cream under my eye ... so that only the eye cream will be applied around the eye.





You are doing it wrong because the whole point is to not have the face cream which is harsh and can damage the skin around the eye touch that area.





I used Mary Kay eye cream. They have a gel to firm and also another cream to reduce dark circles. They can be expensive so I used to buy them over ebay. But since lately I got hooked on to estee lauder eye firming cream and they are awsome. Of course they are expensive ... but I buy them over ebay.

Honestly, there is absolutely no reason to spend your money on eye-cream. A good face cream is sufficient enough. Eye cream is really just a cash grab by cosmetic companies - especially creams that come in pots with screw off caps. (oxygen destroys any properties)


Just use your regular face cream (and get a decent one), but just make sure that when you are putting the cream on your eye area, use your ring finger to pat it on. This finger is your weakest, so it won't pull at the fragile skin around your eyes.
decide what your needs %26amp; money to burn are cuz this stuff is going to cost you alot. ignore the marketing ploys and use what works best for your skin type. when in doubt, ask your dermatologist.

You need a really intensive moisturizer. For immediate relief you can get Vitamin E capsules and break them open and rub them into your skin. Vitamin E is a really good healing source.





I too have had really dry and sensitive skin. I have found that using products from Origins or The Body Shop are affordable options to deal with this. Kinetin is an amazing ingredient for dry skin. I believe that Almay makes a Kinetin line you can buy in the drugstore.





Also, you should be using the appropriate facial wash for your skin type. Using bar soap, even if it is olay or a sensitive type is still bad for your sensitive skin. Look for something that is soothing like callendula or Vitamin E. Remember that you need to switch face washes and moisturizers with the seasons. The winter is naturally more drying so using a heavy duty moisturizer during these months will help with the problem.





If all else fails using Vaseline I have found works really well. Also,be sure to get an exfoliating face wash or face loofah/buffer to smooth out the dry skin. You can use this every day. Best moisturizer I have ever used and cheap, too. St. Ive's Collagen and Elastin moisturizer. You can get it in drugstores and even in supermarkets. About $4.00 for a huge jar that lasts forever. I don't think many people know about how good this stuff is - but I do. Buy a jar and see for yourself!
I would recommend something by Oil of Olay. They have this cream called regenerist which is really good. Also try and find a really decent serum, they will help with your slight wrinkles!

it gets redish? then i suggest that you stop using the cream because you may have an allergy to it. for me, proactiv is rather drying. so if i use it too frequently, my skin would dry out and peel, but never redish.

You might have Melasma which is brown skin pigmentation. Some women get it from being on the contraceptive pill or when pregnant, its a hormonal thing.

cream bronzer or shimmer is easy to blend and great for dry or normal skin. powder is not as easy to blend but is better on oily/combination or sensitive skin. apply the bronzer or shimmer on the apples of your cheeks, the cheekbones, the temples, and only a little bit on your forehead, nose, and chin. then go back and apply a pinky coral blush on the apples of the cheeks. bronzer alone can look a bit muddy, so applying some blush can freshen it up.
i use physcians formula its sold at wal-greens CVS and wal-mart. They seriously have the best bronzer i've ever used and they have tons of colors to choose from. Put the shimmer/bronzer on all places that sunlight naturally falls i.e cheek bones -jaw lines-collar bones etc.

giovanni direct leave-in conditioner. it's a hair conditioner but it's just a bunch of random plants and oils with some preservative so no weird chemicals to worry about. you might want to think about adding some kind of natural sunblock to it, like green tea or something. i know it sounds weird but just try it. go to target or walmart and just try some on your hands (don't be heavy handed). the plants and oils all serve different purposes. some of the stuff is just plain moisturizing but the other plants cut back on and regulate oiliness. it feels really wet and gooky at first because of the marsh plant but within a minute it dries to feel amazing - soft and smooth and even looking, and moisturized and dry at the same time, if that makes any sense.
Go for Emoleen, its a water based moisturizer specially formulated for oily or acne prone skin, it contains phospholipids which effectively moisturizers ur skin without making it oily, in india it just costs some 45Rs, you can get it from your local pharmacy

my aunt used proactive and broke out even more, and REALLY bad, so keep in mind that not all solutions are good for your type of skin.
I think u should try Proactive or Mary-Kay...My sister got some from my aunt,and it's working REALLY good!The one that works more(that i think...)is a soap bar,(with blue specks in it...)which works awsomely!(lol...)Usually, they sell Mary-Kay,by hand..(like by person,not a store...)so it might be hard to get...O and these things r pretty expencive...Good luck!

Sometimes it's not just a face cream you need. Try getting a milder foaming face wash. Then use a toner. Not an astringent, they are usually way to harsh. Don't forget a moisterizer. I suggest something hypoallergenic and lightwieght. Also, have on hand a facial scrub. Try St. Ives Apricot Scrub. It comes in a blemish control formula.
You can drink multivitamins or apply a warm compress for five minutes three times a day to bring the pimple to a head. dab on acne gel twice a day to dry it up ( iused seventeen magazine).
you can try pro-active but you cant stop using it. you should try rubbing alcohol after you wash your face (with saop)
cetephil is cheaper than pro- active and and if you go to the doctor than can prescribe you to this creme called benzaclin which is pretty good stuff. i cant live w.out it.

The best products I have found is Aloette. You can get it at its web site but it is expensive. I usually buy it from the home shopping network when it is on sale. It has aloe vera in it and it works. I am 49 and look 30. I have no wrinkles or spots....You will need to probably try different products and see which work for you.....Whats a good face cream?
I use the brand Prescriptives, comfort lotion, oil free, made for sensitive/acne prone skin. No fragrance and its super light, with a lot of moisture, so your face is always comfortable. I have very sensitive skin, and this is the only lotion that touches my face. I bought it at Macy's, dont know if there is one where you live, but it costs around 45 dollars.





If that is out of reach, and a little pricey for you, then I would suggest, the Aveeno, or Oil of Olay brands. the Oil of Olay brand has a wonderful multivitamin lotion that pretty much does nothing but give you moisture. Its really a great buy.





Also, I think anti aging is a bit unnecessary right now. If you do too much to your skin, then eventually everything will become ineffective. So look for something that just moisturizes for now. As the time comes for prevention of wrinkles and such, then it'll be time to use the anti-aging.

for starters, acne cream can have very strong chemicals that can dry out your skin (same with soap but not as bad)

You shouldn't use soap on your face because the soap can get in your pores and clogs, which is one cause of spots - mainly blackheads - they are soap/lotions etc clogged in the pores!





I would recommend that you use a facial wash and make sure you was your face in hot water first as this opens the pores, wash the face with facial wash or cleanser and then use cold water to wash the face to wash the product out then close the pores! There are many facial washes on the market i've tried many and they are all good, i espically like ones that include Tea Tree Oil as im prone to spots and this kills the bacteria.





Using an exfoliator once a week is very useful too as they remove the dead skin cells which can make your skin look dull, revealing your new layer of skin ( we shred skin everyday - i.e flaking - nasty i know!). Again, so many exfoliates out there, i prefer ones for sensitive skin as even though you should only do it once a week i still find it quite harsh but a must-do!

Hydroquinone helps fade any red scars (can find at Walgreens in skin-lightening creams - check the label).


Getting facials also helps, and can improve the texture of your skin.


(It will sound like a commercial, but Proactive really helped my skin)





You really need to always do 3 things; wash with a cleanser correct for your skin type, use an astringent or a toner after cleansing, and use a light non-greasy lotion either at night or during the day or both depending on if your skin gets too dry(preferably with an SPF 15). Spot treat your breakouts.





Dairy also often causes break-outs. Your regular doctor can give you antibiotics that will help clear up your skin (tetracycline usually).
Well its good that you have stopped that habit of yours .... Everyone is a difft skin type and not necessarily that what suits you should work on some one else too ..... various factors are ionvolved when it comes to acne and pimples ...... pollution .... oil secretion .... harmones ..... etc etc .....

it is safe, but be prepared to have extremely dry skin. I recommend using them on alternating days with facial lotion.

first of all include milk and milk products in your diet..they are very essential to have a healthy skin..you can not have healthy and glowing skin with cosmetics if you don't have a healthy skin from within. also try eating a hand full of nuts everyday.


best moisturizer for skin i olay..i use it quite religiously as i have a very dry skin..but you have to use a night cream coz when u r sleeping ur skin repairs itself..i don't use any creams as a night cream. i use rose hip oil as my night cream. it is one of the best things for your skin. see if u can find rose hip oil in India. Google it and read the benefits for yourself.


these are the only 2 things i use on my skin. in winters i do mix the rose hip oil in my moisturizer and use it during day time.

It could be your diet. Not enough vitamins and minerals. That will cause skin irritation/color changes. Try eating more veggies, fruits and meats and drink a lot of water.

First of all about the philosophy hope in a jar,not for oily acne proned skin. Philosophy has a line for acne proned skin but its 35 dollars an ounce and pro-active works much better. I have the same skin as you have described. I have used everything and i would suggest you just get an oi-free,non-comedogenic moisturizer 2x a day. I have the same problem along with some fine lines! I love Philosophy's Hope in a Jar. It's non-oily and is chock full of vitamins, peptides and other great things for your face. It soothes inflammation on the skin that acne causes and It makes your face look healthy without stripping it and making it dry and flaky . Really is worth a try!!!
Estee Lauder in the brown bottle night moisturizer is so really fantastic! It like rejuvenates my skin. If you go to a beauty counter at the high end stores, they should give you a free sample of it!

This is a herbal remedy and it works very well for me.


Take some chick peas, and grind them, so that it becomes a powder.


Then mix the powder with milk, so that it become 1 part powder and 1 part milk, then mix into a paste, apply on spotty skin, leave for about 5 minutes, and then wash with warm water
are you talking about zits? or age spots? if you are talking about zits, i started using the pro-active reparing lotion and it works wonders. really does. I also use some stuff by Murad with sulfur in it and its really good too.
They don't work. Seriously. I have tried everything. If it is really bad, then go to the doctors. If it isn't, just leave them alone they will go eventually.
i know it sounds tough but chocolate is the worst thing to eat because it gives you spots. if you cut down on sweets and chocolate and drink lots of water... your face should clear up :)

I have acne prone oily skin.


I would reccommend St. Ives, Neutrogena, and even the Walmart generic brands (they're suppose to be like copies of Oil of Olay and stuff and work just as good!).





Usually the box/bottle will give a description of what the product does.


But usually, most face creams will obviously moisturize your skin and keep it smooth and firm...which means keepin your skin young looking!


and the eye cream is important too cuz it does the same thing of keeping that skin looking great since that area is so delicate and can easily age and lose elasticity.





and again the box/bottle will tell you how to use them, but usually you'll use a small amount of face cream in the morning and eye cream too, and at night i would use twice as much face cream and eye cream since our skin absorbs and repairs itself over night more than the day time!
